Religions are coming to worldbox and they are quite magical.
What is Religion?[edit]

Religions from what we currently know will act as a magical system for civilizations. We have yet to see many teasers of the more traditional aspects of religion for this meta-objects but there is likely more we have yet to see (fan criticism). Religions will spread through conversations, books, and other means (like napping). Most File:PawSymbol10x.pngsubspecies will be able to develop their own religion if they have the File:BrainGlassesS10x.png"Advanced Hippocampus" trait. Followers of religions will be able to get passive traits, spells, and mystical rites (as plots). Some magical spells will require mana to cast. Mana has been speculated to be symbolized with a File:NewsblueFlame10x.pngblue flame.
Religious development will be influenced by the species and biome it rises from. Some will be able to unlock devastating powers like meteor showers and lightning to call down on their enemies, but sometimes rituals can bring disaster to the world itself. Usually only clan members will be able to utilize the magical powers a religion grants if the religion has the File:ReligionTrait BloodlineBond.png"Bloodline Bond" trait. You can also prevent certain File:IconClanList10x.pngclans from using magic with the File:ClanTrait VoidBan.png"Void Ban" clan trait.
But, magic isn't just going to be limited to religion. Some species will be born magical by their very nature and we will be able to influence that. For example, we can create things like a GMO turtle species that can control wind, summon fire, multiply like rabbits, and live for thousands of years.
