Age Clock[edit]

Ages will now have a clock that you can use to determine the rate at which and when they appear! The clock features multiple iconic creatures of worldbox:

Graphs[edit]

There will be population pyramids and graphs to see how groups develop over time and their current conditions. This will help to make tracking world history and changes in your world much easier.

Combat and Balancing Changes[edit]

Very early on in the wait for the update we got to see some changes to combat with arrows (July 2023). One video of elves with a special dodge ability and arrows colliding. Maxim also mentioned how their would be balancing and other changes made to creatures, weapons and traits. They also mentioned how the dodge ability wouldn't be exclusive to elves, they said that some species would be better at it and some wouldn't be able to do it all. For more info see comments in the gallery below.

Item Improvements[edit]

You'll be able to directly give items to units now! It appears that you'll have to discover items though before you are able to disperse them to populations. You'll also be able to favorite weapons, which will make them easier to keep track of. Also, sticks will be much less valued in this update when better resources are available.

New Powers[edit]

List of basic powers (for more info on meta-objects go here):

  • Alliance Creation: You'll finally be able to force alliances between kingdoms
  • Clone Rain: Clone certain units to easily make a large group of them
  • Loot Rain: Give lots items to units easily. It looks like items will have to be discovered before you can give them to units

Interesting Units Menu[edit]

This menu would reveal some special individuals within a certain population for you to be amazed at. Types of individuals that would be included in this menu are those with the most kills, most children, or with other qualities like the fastest or oldest.

New Animals[edit]

Damaged Crabzillia[edit]

A damaged version of the crabzilla skin was revealed on the subreddit April 28th, 2023. This has led some to theorize there will be another boss creature to challenge Crabzillia but we have seen no indication of that past this teaser. For those who don't know, crabzilla can be killed by units in your world. Crabzilla has 15,000 health.

Monolith and Harp[edit]

The monolith has been featured in multiple teasers and comments from Maxim leading some to believe the Monolith will finally do something in game past being a cool decorative building. The harp is a new kind of structure that has been shown in two different teasers. Some speculate it may have something to do with the fourth meta object that has not been revealed yet.

Walls[edit]

Walls have long been a requested feature for worldbox. There have reportedly been several barriers in adding walls into the game and how they should be implemented but it seems like we will receive them in this next update. Though it is not exactly known how they will work. In the wood wall gif we can see how eggs bounce off of the walls.

Interracial Interaction[edit]

It is confirmed that File:PawSymbol10x.pngsubspecies will be able to directly interact and live in the same village, but now it has been revealed that some species will be able to tolerate each other in the same village or be extremely territorial.

The first info we got about races interacting was with this screenshot. There were two theories surrounding it:

  1. Multi-Racial villages
  2. Buildings will not be destroyed in interracial conquest
    1. Several human building ruins
    2. Only orcs seen in the village

New Buildings[edit]

We will be able to get a general idea of how many resources a village has without looking at the village menu by looking at "resource depots" (unofficial name). Training dummies have been shown also through we aren't exactly sure what they'll do yet. There seems some new type of building that can be noticed in a zoomed out map teaser of religions. The community has also been shown close-ups of multiple of various villages that may contain new building types.

Creature Adjustments[edit]

Creatures will now react differently when you use different powers. Running when minerals fall from the sky and being stunned when being pushed around with the force power. They may also be able to hold weapons like the shotgun. In the monolith video you can see the stun inflicted on creatures many times. It has also been shown that certain children may be able to hold weapons now.

Onomastics[edit]

We are a form of name generation manipulation in this next update. At first, there was not a lot out there about it but there have been various clues hinting at it being a possibility. Starting with the coin with the roman numeral of 1 which was shown in the 6th Steam Post related to languages with no context/caption given. There was later a reddit post discussion in which Maxim replied to u/MattC041 theory on what it was for: https://www.reddit.com/r/Worldbox/comments/1h4bso3/comment/lzxpafg/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button

More recently, on the 27th of December an image from Nikon was reposted on twitter by Maxim, it included various names that were in some way related to "don Nikon". Some names include titles from different languages (e.g. Herr and Frau are Mr. and Mrs. in German; Don and Dona are Mr. and Mrs. in Spanish). It also seems that the female-gendered names are lighter in color and the male-gendered males are darker in color. When attempting to translate the various names they are recognized as words in various languages (Basque, German, Hawaiian, Icelandic, Italian, Japanese, Mizo, Norwegian, Polish, Spanish, Swahili, Swedish, Turkish, Waray).

There is now more info and confirmation of onomastics with an image and quote from this steam post:
"With so many new species, we needed a lot of name generators. So, we made a game out of it! Cultures now have a new tab called "Onomastics", which controls naming templates for units, families (last names), clans, and cities. It might look a little scary at first, but don’t worry — it should all make sense (we hope) as you play around with it during beta!"
