It grows fastest during the Age of Dark and Despair. Creatures that enter the corrupted biome have a chance of becoming File:IconCurse10x.pngcursed (every step has a 0.5% chance of giving the cursed trait), which weakens them and will result in them turning into a skeleton when they die. Additionally, if civs and some other creatures die on corrupted biome, they will also turn into ghosts. All of these factors make it one of the harshest biomes for civilizations. Also, the corrupted biome is the only biome that has natural bone deposits making it the best place for civilizations to get the bone resource. Subspecies need Corruption Adaptation to build here. Traits[edit]
Subspecies/creature traits only apply to subspecies/creatures that spawn in the biome. Culture, language, and religion traits only apply to cultures, languages, and religions that start in the biome. Not guaranteed to have these traits, selection is random

Fauna[edit]
There is only one naturally spawning mob in the corrupted biome. Any humanoids that die in the corrupt biome turn into ghosts and/or skeletons.

Trivia[edit]
- Added in version 0.12.02
- In version 0.14.0 the curse chance was changed from 5% to 0.5% chance
- The corrupted biome is a possible reference to The Corrupted from Terraria
- Creatures which will turn into ghosts upon death in the corrupted biome are said to "have a soul" in the code. These creatures include civs, fairy, bandit, alien, mages, cold one, and greg
- Depending on which trait the unit got first, they can turn into a ghost and a skeleton, zombie, or mush when they die (for more info see the Undead page)
- If a corrupted biome is next to a grass biome, it will spreads its seeds causing large corrupted trees to grow in the adjacent grass biome. Strangely, these large corrupted trees are not seen in the corrupted biome itself. From teasers we've seen for the upcoming update this is fixed
