Spawner Characteristics[edit]
- Loses the ability to spread if spawned on a sand tile
- Can spawn naturally depending on the age with the "Other Disasters" world law enabled (except Cybercores)
- Hostile to almost all other creatures seeking only to advance themselves
- "Creep" tiles give units a 20% (50% before beta) speed debuff
- All minions except assimilators can turn into mush. None of the minions can turn into any other undead monsters
- Spawners and their minions do not need food
- Are attracted to the golden brain
- You can not edit advanced brain or phenotype (subspecies)
Creep Biome Spread[edit]
Spawners will spread their own characteristic creep biomes around them. The mechanism of this spread is different from the spread of regular biomes, and is achieved by creep workers. These workers are not physical entities, but their movement paths can be observed in game as a faint white line.
Each type of spawner has a fixed number of workers working simultaneously. Workers will start form the spawner building and move outwards; as they move, they lay down the creep biomes, creating a spreading effect.
Workers have a fixed step limit for every trip they make; when they reach this step limit, the worker returns to the spawner building. Note that each step can traverse more than 1 tile. Workers in each type of spawner have a fixed step interval, which is the time the worker takes to move 1 step.
Workers of different spawners have different movement directions, leading to different patterns of spread:
- Random movement - the worker's next step can be any tile neighboring the current tile. Used by biomass.
- Directional movement, with random disturbances - the worker moves in a certain direction, but may experience minor random displacements in the axis perpendicular to its movement direction. Used by super pumpkins and tumors.
- Directional movement, without random disturbances - the worker moves in a certain direction. Used by cybercores.
Workers for cybercores and super pumpkins will randomly change their direction of movement after a certain number of steps. (steps before changing direction)
Building | Number of workers | Step Limit | Step Interval (Months) | Steps before changing direction |
---|---|---|---|---|
Biomass | 4 | 10 | 0.14 | N/A |
Cybercore | 6 | 20 | 0.4 | 7 |
Super Pumpkin | 3 | 10 | 0.04 | 20 |
Tumor | 2 | 5 | 0.02 | N/A |
Spawner Specific Info[edit]
Tumor[edit]
Tumors have been in the game for a very long time. Units walking on tumor tiles have a chance to get the tumor infection trait (slowly kills units) which will cause them to turn into a tumor monster on death. Plague doctors will try to burn tumor tiles and treat infections.
Biomass[edit]
Units walking on biomass tiles have a chance to receive the madness trait. Tiles can't freeze and every step units make on it there is a 5% chance of them getting the slowness status
Super Pumpkin[edit]
Druids and Super Pumpkins are friends. The Super Pumpkin creep tiles are sometimes called "roots" or "vines". Tiles can't freeze and every step units make on it there is a 2% chance of them getting the slowness status
Cybercore[edit]
Assimilators are armed with shotguns, one of the most powerful weapons in worldbox. Cyber tiles can't freeze or burn. The tiles can be destroyed with the demolish tool
