Not to be confused with the Arcane Desert biome.
The Sand Biome, also known as the "Beach" or "Desert" Biome, is a "special biome" found within Worldbox. Units will move 50% slower on sand tiles.
The sand biome has two sub-types that appear depending on the proximity of water. These two sub-types can meld together freely if the patch of sand they inhabit is large enough.
- Cacti Sands or Deserts, form where sand tiles are located inland and aren't close to any bodies of water. These sand tiles grow exclusively cacti
- Coastal Sands or Beaches, or Palm Forests appear where sand is close to water. These tiles grow exclusively palm trees (which drop coconuts)
Traits[edit]
Creature trait and Subspecies traits only apply to creatures/subspecies that spawn in the biome. Clan, culture, language, and religion traits only apply to clans, cultures, languages, and religions that start in the biome. Not guaranteed to have these traits, selection is random (see here for more info).

Flora[edit]
- File:IconTileSand scaled 10x pngcrushed.pngThis biome is made using the sand tile power
- File:IconFertilizerTrees10x.png The only flora here are the palm trees and/or cacti. Palm trees when cut down will give coconuts, eating a coconut can give the shield status. Cacti are immune to drought (Age of Sun effect)
Fauna[edit]
Only one creature spawns in the sand biome.
Natural[edit]
These animals spawn naturally in this biome when the Animal Spawn world law is enabled. They can also spawn from Clouds of Life.
Sapient[edit]
These civs will spawn from Clouds of Life when the Drop of Thoughts world law is enabled and creature is unlocked. They all spawn at an equal rate.

Trivia[edit]
- The sand biome is one of the game's first biomes
- It is a biome that exists because of the presence of sand tiles, and has no seed power tied to it
- The beach biome is the one of three biomes made from something other than seeds (the others being the Wasteland and Hill biomes)
- Civilizations briefly needed the subspecies sand adaptation trait to be able to build in the sand. This was removed in the 0.50.1 patch
