Hunger[edit]
Many creatures have a hunger bar, although there are also many who don't (for a list see the Creature Diets page). Every 1.6 months, a unit's hunger decreases by 1; after hunger reaches 0%, units will start to lose 1 health (starving) (also every 1.6 months).
Description[edit]
Food is a vital resource in worldbox. Like other resources, foods are displayed as items in their village storage. Consuming foods restore varying amounts of hunger and health, and also have a chance to impart various traits and status effects to the eater.
Civilized units will automatically have a favorite food that can effect their mood, their favorite food is shown in the middle of a star on their hunger bars. There are also special civ foods, such as pies for humans and ale for dwarves. Special foods can only be made by their respective civs (e.g. only humans can make pies). They are made out of other foods such as berries, herbs and mushrooms. Sometimes special foods can get mixed up between races, such as a human's favorite food being ale which unobtainable for humans (even through trade). If you want to prevent this issue see the trivia section at the bottom of this page.
Food icons are only seen in the unit and village menus or when viewing your world with the 'RenderFavouriteFoods' option enabled in the Debug Menu. Animals do not consume foods the way civs do, instead carnivores will hunt and attempt to prey on other animals or herbivores will eat plants.
Food Sources[edit]
When units with the savage trait kill a non-animal (like a human or orc) they are not guaranteed the extra piece of meat (so subtract one meat from all of the results).
List of Foods[edit]
Some foods such as pies can give humanoids traits. These lists explain all of the following foods and their effects:
Stat Information:
- Diet = Subspecies need these diet traits to be able to consume the food
- File:IconHunger10x.png= Hunger restoration (also called nutrition)
- File:IconHealth10xEdit.png= Health restoration (based on percentage of max health)
- File:IconMana10x.png= Mana restoration
- File:IconStamina10x.png= Stamina restoration
- File:IconHappiness 510x.png= Happiness restoration
- File:IconExperience10x.png= Experience gain (goes toward leveling up)
- File:IconFleshEater10x.pngTastiness and Favorite Chance, If the tastiness of a food is greater than a unit's current favorite food there is a chance for a unit's favorite food to change to that based on if the new food's "favorite chance" triggers. If a unit does not have a favorite food when they eat any food it's favorite chance will be rolled and if it succeeds that will become the unit's favorite food
- GC = Give Chance, defines how likely a food is to give a trait and/or status. Once a give chance is triggered there is a 50% chance of adding a trait and then 50% chance of adding a status. Sometimes units may get a trait that makes them immune to something (thanks to the food) and then the game may try to inflict a status that the unit is now immune to. Foods may have a higher chance of giving certain traits/statuses over another. [this section need review]
- Supply Bound Take, defines the maximum amount (+1) of resources a village can have to be given more of that resource. This stat is not listed on tables because it's the same for nearly all foods (30), only wheat varies with 100
- Supply Bound Give, defines the minimum amount of a resource needed before villages are able to share it. This stat is not listed on tables because it's the same for nearly all foods (10), only wheat varies with 20
Special Foods (cannot be obtained by other civs)[edit]

Berry Bushes[edit]
Berry bushes are a natural resource that grows and can contain berries File:IconResBerries scaled 10x.png. In the Nature tab they are referred to as "Fruit" Bushes. Every time a bush is harvested it gives 3 berries, and the bush has a 20% chance to be destroyed. If it is not destroyed, it takes 18 months for the berries to regrow.
They spawn naturally in these biomes:
