History & How to Play

Worldbox was first publicly seen September 24th, 2012 on Newgrounds.com as a flash game where it seemed to receive a positive impression. After the discontinuation of Adobe Flash the game stopped working but you can now use the Newgrounds Player to play the prototype. This "prototype" is a very simple version of worldbox containing only the most basic features. You can also find some of Maxim's other games by viewing their newgrounds account.

It's also available to play on Flashpoint Infinity, a program designed to save the countless games that were doomed to disappear along with Flash Player, in the beginning of 2021.

It is assumed by some that Maxim continued working on worldbox on and off for 6 years until it was re-released in 2018-2019 to mobile and pc devices. The earliest version mentioned in the changelogs is version 0.1.13. This is commonly seen as the start of "modern" worldbox (not this).
