Description[edit]
Roads are a type of structure/tile unlocked by civilizations once they obtain the roads knowledge.
Roads are built by road builders, and are only built by Humans and Dwarves, and not Orcs and Elves. Whenever the village plans a new building, it will at the same time randomly select a village building, and connect it to two closest buildings using roads (roads are NOT built to docks). Roads are built quite fast due to them not costing any resources like normal builds.
Roads/Bridges will "remember" the terrain tile under them; when they are removed or decay, the original terrain tile is exposed.
The main function of roads/bridges is to provide a faster way of transportation in-between city buildings. Units will move 50% faster than normal on bridges and roads. However, having roads does not affect the pathfinding of units; units will not adjust their path to walk preferentially on roads.
Bridges are a slight reskin of roads. Bridges form when roads cross over water and sand tiles. They are almost never built by civilizations as roads are preferentially built between pairs of buildings close to each other, and such buildings are usually not separated by water.
