Steel
Steel is a basic material and currently the 3rd strongest material in the game. It is not a resource by itself; steel items are made from Common Metal Ore which is grey & white in-game.
Obtaining
Common Metal is a very common ore that generates in Arcane Desert, Candy, Enchanted, Grass, Infernal, Jungle, Lemon, Mushroom, Permafrost, Savanna, Swamp, and Wasteland biomes but it does not generate in the Beach, Corrupted, or Crystal biomes. Common Metal itself can also be found in the Crystal Biome but not in the form of an ore. It can also be placed directly through the Nature and Disasters menu tab.

Uses
Steel can be used to forge and craft tools, weapons, armor, and other accessories like amulets when a culture learns the "Material - Steel" knowledge, which can be unlocked as early as culture level 31.
Steel can be crafted into axes, bows, hammers, spears, swords, helmets, armor, boots, rings, amulets.
