It grows fastest during the Age of Tears. The biome is a damp area with dark mud. The wetness of the biome can support a lot of life but creatures move more slowly than normal in this biome. Subspecies need Swamp Adaptation to build here.

Trivia
- In the biome update (0.12.02) the swamp biome was introduced as a water-based biome. There used to be lily pads and reeds in the water of biome before it got removed in version 0.14.0
- The current version of the swamp was added in version 0.14.0.
- Before it was changed, the swamp biome was originally made out of water instead of soil. Creatures who tried to swim in the water gained a slowness status, and were considerably slowed. The super pumpkin's vine tiles still use this effect
- There is a special swamp piranha color that hasn't been removed from the game's code
