Animal Reproduction

Conditions for Reproduction

In order for an animal to be able to reproduce, the following conditions must be satisfied:

  • Animal babies world law is enabled
  • Basic reproductive conditions are satisfied. These include:
    • The animal's hunger level is ≥ 80. (Note that when spawned, animals have a default hunger value of 79)
    • The animal has reached reproductive age, which is 3 years for most animals and 6 years for rhinos
    • Reproduction cooldown has run out. The reproduction cooldown is a random value between 8 and 16 months.
  • The following limits have not been reached:
    • There are not more than 30 units of the same species in the entire map
    • The number of units in the animal's current chunk and adjacent chunks must be less than 6 (less than 4 for rhinos)
    • There are less than 4 units of the same species within adjacent chunks.

Preparations for Reproduction

For animals which reproduce by eggs (including crabs, turtles and chickens),

  • These animals can directly lay their eggs nearby
  • The eggs will hatch after 1 year

For animals which do not reproduce by eggs, the animal needs to find a mate of the same race. The mate needs to satisfy the following conditions:

  • The mate satisfies the basic reproductive conditions mentioned above
  • The mate needs to be within 50 tiles and not segregated by terrain
  • The closest unit satisfying these conditions will be chosen.

Process of Reproduction

During reproduction, the two mates need to be within 1 tile of each other. A shake effect occurs, and the offspring drops from the sky. After reproduction is complete, the two partners enter into cooldown.

Civ Unit Reproduction

The reproduction of civilized units are organized by their vilage, and occur in rounds.

In every round, all villagers who can reproduce are matched and reproduce. The number of times reproduction can occur in every round is given by (population / 7 + 1).

Conditions for Reproduction

In order for civ units to reproduce, the following conditions must be satisfied:

  • Civ babies world law is enabled
  • The village has food resources in stock
  • The village has empty housing available
  • If the world law 100 people is enabled, the village population must be less than 100

Reproductive Process

When the village has satisfied the above conditions, it will try to find villagers who can become parents. These villagers must satisfy the following conditions:

  • Fertility rate > 0
  • At least 8 months have passed since they last reproduced

Reproduction can occur with two villagers, or with one single villager.

  • If there is only one villager left who can reproduce, they will reproduce on their own (regardless of their gender).
    • The success rate of reproduction is their fertility stat.
    • Their offspring inherit their traits and skin color.
  • If there are multiple villagers who can reproduce, the village will choose a spouse for them. The two spouses can be of any gender combination.
    • The success rate of reproduction is the fertility stat of the first villager (which is random)
    • Their offspring inherit the traits of both parents (at the given inheritance rates), and their skin color will be an average of the skin colors of the parents
      • If parents both have the same inheritable trait the inheritance chance for that trait will be rolled twice
