Units will move 50% slower on sand tiles. The desert has two sub-types that appear depending on the proximity of water. These two sub-types can meld together freely if the patch of sand they inhabit is large enough.

  • Cacti Deserts form where sand tiles are located inland and aren't close to any bodies of water. These sand tiles grow exclusively cacti
  • Coastal Beaches , or Palm Forests appear where sand is close to water. These tiles grow exclusively palm trees

Traits[edit]

Subspecies traits and prefixes only apply to the subspecies of creatures that spawn in the biome. Not guaranteed to have these traits, selection is random

  • File:PawSymbol10x.pngGives subspecies:
    • Metamorphosis Crab
    • Always gives: Adaption Beach
    • Name Prefix: granitius
    • Name Prefix: arenarius
    • Name Prefix: sabulum

Trivia[edit]

  • The beach biome is one of the game's first biomes
  • It is a biome that exists because of the presence of sand tiles, and has no seed power tied to it
  • The beach biome is the one of three biomes made from something other than seeds (the others being the Wasteland and Hill biomes)
  • Civilizations briefly needed the subspecies sand adaptation trait to be able to build in the beach. This was removed in the 0.50.1 patch
