Subspecies are a new meta-object coming to worldbox. It is considered by many as a sort of creature super editor.
== Subspecies and Genetics ==
Every species will have its own subspecies. Subspecies will still be a part of their species but their subspecies group will have some unique characteristics that set them a part. For example, "Forest Lemons" could be a subspecies of the lemon species. How subspecies develop could be effected by factors like biome exclusive food (such as [[Food|snow cucumbers]] in the [[Permafrost Biome|permafrost biome]]). A subspecies may have some special bonuses that make it stronger or weaker than other the rest of their species.

=== Harmony, Mind & Advanced Brain ===
Just recently were where shown these three new trait categories. The harmony traits function is unknown but has been speculated to determine what population density the subspecies prefers. Mind traits seem to refer to various subjects that are also mostly unknown. Things get a little more interesting with the advanced mind traits because of recent news about the "Advanced Hippocampus" trait. Because of this news many have speculated the other advanced brain icons determine what meta-objects civilizations can have.

=== Reproductive Methods ===
So far we know that there will be eight reproductive methods. Three have had there full colored icons revealed and 4 others have had their icons partially revealed. If you haven't noticed already, a new reproductive method was added from the first time we saw them in the first egg teaser from June 3rd, 2024. '''Speculative''' names for these reproductive methods are listed below. For icons that have not been fully revealed they have been speculated to be either Budding, Fragmentation, Parthenogenesis, Spores (see [https://www.reddit.com/r/Worldbox/comments/1djz003/comment/l9fsx87/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button Maxim's comment]) and Seeds.  

*Sexual (male and female, 2 individuals needed), (?), (?), Mitosis/Fission (asexual, 1 individual needed), Hermaphroditism (either individual can act as male or female, 1-2 individuals needed), (?), (?), (?)

Includes five icons of bread each at different stages of being baked. This has been '''theorized''' to have something to do with '''how often or how long into a subspecies's lifespan they can reproduce.'''

=== Eggs and Gestation & Reproduction Strategies ===
As of now we know that there is 18 different egg types that subspecies can have. Eggs have been '''theorized''' to each give different bonuses to an subspecies's offspring. In the first egg teaser from June 3rd, 2024 the word "Gestation" could be made out despite it being mostly cut out of the teaser. We can find an icon that looks to be related to gestation in the teaser from August 12th, 2024 (it is pictured below next to the egg icons). Players have theorized that subspecies can either be oviparous (lays eggs) or viviparous (carries embryos inside the mother). Which is confirmed by the later released reproduction methods category with an egg and pregnant icon. Below is a list of '''speculative''' egg names.

These most likely determine the skin/fur color of a subspecies (affects physical appearance). Currently we know there to be up to 47 different color schemes but we have only seen icons for about 15 of them. Possibly more when you consider some may be seen in effect in various other sneak peaks such as the animal babies teaser from February 1st, 2024 with the purple furred [[Herbivores|monkey]] or yellowish [[Crystal Monsters|crystal golems]] from December 4th, 2023.

Talents are portrayed as gemstones and determine what elements of magic units in the subspecies can use. Magic is closely tied to [[File:ReligionList10x.png|frameless|28x28px]][[Religion News|religion]], another new meta object. Right know we know there to be 9 talent traits.

=== Sleep Cycles & Hibernation ===
The sleep cycle traits seem to portray how long units sleep with increasing duration left to right. We do not have much information about how exactly sleeping will effect units but it has been hinted as a way [[File:ReligionList10x.png|frameless|28x28px]][[Religion News|religion]] spreads. Hibernation traits seems to define what time or age units will sleep through like night, sun, ice, and chaos.

* There will be population pyramids and graphs to see how subspecies develop over time and their current status
