Clans are a mechanic added in 0.21.0. Clans are a group of individuals who descend from the clan founder. Kings and town leaders will always be members of a clan. ==Clan levels== <small>Clan levels represent how much xp a clan has gained over time, roughly a single xp point is gained every month a clan exists. The higher the level, the usually more influential, large, and powerful a clan is.</small> {| class="fandom-table" ! !Level 1 !Level 2 !Level 3 !Level 4 !Level 5 |- !Member Cap |10 |12 |14 |16 |20 |- !Bonus Stats | +5 Max Age | +10% Damage | +20% Fertility | +20% Diplomacy | +30% Health |- !XP Needed |0 XP |300 XP |600 XP |900 XP |1200 XP |- !Min Total Years |0 Years |25 Years |75 Years |150 Years |250 Years |} ==What do clans do?== Clans affect succession, diplomacy, loyalty, and who rules villages/kingdoms. If a kingdom conquers another kingdom, some or all (depends on how many villages are available) of the clan members of the ruling clan of that winning kingdom earn villages and become leaders of them if the original leaders died in combat. If the king has too few clan members to assign villages to, they will be given to another clan instead. * If kings end up having too many separate clans in charge of villages they can become disloyal possibly leading to rebellions. * If there are multiple kingdoms from the same clan they're much more likely to be friendly and maybe even start alliances. ==How do clans work?== There can be multiple clans in a kingdom. The way it works is that the clan members are all connected by one ancestor, the clan founder. Units can inherit clan membership if one of their parents is king or leader when they are born (if both parents are leaders of different clans the newborn unit randomly joins one of them, kings have priority). The most powerful clan within a kingdom is the one that the king has descended from. Once a king dies a leader within the kingdom will take over (clan doesn't matter in this situation). Currently king succession is bugged, it is intended for the oldest unit in the king's clan to take over. In the event that that a clan gets pushed to extinction another clan (who are nobility) will rise to power or a new clan will be created. ===Example:=== Let's say you want to make sure one clan stays in power by making sure they are the only clan in the whole kingdom. Well once they invade other kingdoms and annex them the nobility of that kingdom will have there status transferred into the kingdom that they are now part of if they don't die in combat and aren't replaced by your members of your favorite clan. Let's say you try to avoid this by putting one human/elf/dwarf/orc and letting the world become populated under one massive kingdom. Well that still won't work if the kingdom grows large enough because eventually the original clan hits it's limit and a new clan needs to be made. This can also happen if no clan members go to new villages leaving leadership open. So eventually you will have a bunch of lesser clans of nobility that are branches/descendant of your original clan! Especially if you have the rebellions world law enabled. ==Can there be a form of rebellion in the clan?== Lastly there can be "civil war" in the clan. If a village leader disagrees with their king (aka the head of the clan) the clansmen ruling that village will rebel and become a king taking any member of the clan who lives in that village with them. This means there can be multiple kings who are apart of the same clan. Loyalty is a good indicator if a village(s) plans to rebel. ==Rankings in Clans== ======Kings ====== A king is the leader of a kingdom and(except in niche cases like the one addressed above) a clan. Kings are usually given the most powerful weapons in the capital of their kingdom, so they most often use high-tier weapons. Kings do not go to another kingdom when at war, instead they stay at home. They won't fight unless an enemy warrior appears in the capital or they just happen upon an enemy unit near them. A unit can only become a king after first being a village leader. ======Village leaders====== Leaders are individuals who rule a specific village. Leaders are usually put into power based on their current age with older units being favored, it is uncommon for a leader to be the head of a clan when the king is also in the same clan but it is possible. Clans usually contain a decent amount of leaders simply due to how clans function and how leaders are decided within a kingdom. A unit can only become a village leader after first being clan member. Units can become clan members by starting their own clan (if conditions allow it) or being born into a clan. ==How do clans gain new members?== If both parents are leaders of different clans a newborn unit will randomly join one of the two clans. ==Clan Creation== <small>From Kings and Leaders page</small> New clans are created when there are no existing royal clan members to take over as leader of village. The process is explained using the process of crowning village leaders. A unit's max "attribute dice roll" is a sum of all their leadership stats (diplomacy, warfare, and stewardship). For a new leader to be crowned these conditions must be met: *At least 3 people in the village *No current leader in the village *Village is not in the process of being captured The game will then try to get the "clan leader" usually those at the top of clans are already kings or leaders so the game will move past them to the next uncrowned clan member. Sometimes this can lead to new clans being created if there are no available clan members to fill the role. This is where the attribute dice comes in. *First the game will search for units that are at least 18 years old *Then the game will "roll" the units attribute dice once and then add the results together (results can be 0 to leadership stat sum (mentioned at the top)) *The dice will be rolled 3 times if the unit has been favorited by the player The unit with the highest sum of their dice rolls will become the founder of a new clan. If units tie for the highest amount one of them is chosen at random. == Clan Bug and the Crowning of New Kings == So what's supposed to happen is the eldest member of the king's clan is supposed to inherit the throne but because of a mis-input in the code the game will use the "attribute dice" instead. This will factor in all leaders of a kingdom including ones not in the king's clan possibly leading to another clan taking the throne. For a new king to be crowned these conditions must be met: *Must be at least 1 village leader alive *No current king If their are more than 1 village leader then a attribute dice (see the above section on "Clan Creation" for more info) will be rolled twice for each leader. Their will be two rolls for each leader instead of one and they will be added together and the leader with the highest sum is crowned king. == Clan Name Generation == {| class="mw-collapsible mw-collapsed fandom-table" |+ Human !Group 1 |ka |ste |vo |pa |ba |go |- !Group 2 |r |d |f |d |v |t |- !
