A village can only hire up to a certain proportion of its current adult population to be warriors. This proportion can be increased by various factors:

* Village Exists +0.35
* Has Leader +0.10
* Leader Warfare Stat Point +0.02
* Army Training [[Culture Development|Knowledge]] +0.05 to 0.15
* Alliance Level 1 +0.05

The maximum number of warriors a city can hire is obtained by multiplying this proportion with the village's current adult population.

Do note while this usually gives you a correct estimate, the number of warriors in a city is often limited by other factors. Most importantly, warrior jobs are only allocated after the allocation of many other job types; if a village does not have sufficient adult population, the number of warrior jobs allocated will be smaller than this theoretical maximum.
